This week, we sat down with Caroline, who is celebrating six months at Quality. We wanted to discuss her experiences, challenges, and joys since joining the team. So, let’s dive in and get to know her perspective on our projects, her job, and what Quality means to her!

What’s one of your favorite things about being our Design Coordinator?

“I don’t have just one favorite thing. I do a bunch of different things like quantity take-offs, client meetings, selections, and working in the project management software. All of those things combined make up what my favorite part is about my position… not being stuck doing the same thing day in and day out. I get to use all of my skills and experiences and grow as a design professional.”

Can you talk about a recent accomplishment you’re proud of?

“Sure! So, in my previous jobs, I gained lots of experience with quantity take-offs. (Interviewer asks ‘What’s a quantity take-off?’) It’s just materials estimating. So for example, you review the project’s plan and estimate how much material you would need for flooring, tile, lights, and everything else. Previously our project managers were doing those, but it bogged them down and wasn’t as efficient as I knew it could be. So I kind of took all that over, haha, because it streamlines the process and creates less back and forth and room for errors.”

What’s the biggest difference between QPM and your previous employers?

“Can I say two things? First is the flexibility of the position and how I have some control over my own schedule. And secondly, you guys are cool. From day one the culture and team have been great.”

Is there anything you’re excited to do in the second half of your first year here?

“There’s a basement project I’m working on that I’m super excited to see completed. Construction hasn’t started yet, but when it’s done, it’s going to be really cool. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s got some features I’ve never seen a basement have. The photos are going to look amazing.”
