A Timely Remodel of a Classic Country Home
Nestled among fields and trees, this cozy country home had been lovingly lived in for many years by our clients. They cherished its classic charm but were ready for an update that they’ve been dreaming of for so long. While they wanted to modernize the space, it was important to maintain the “soul” that made it feel like home. Trusting our team, they gave us the creative freedom to guide most of the selections. And that partnership led to something truly special.
Opening Up the Space for Better Entertaining
The original floor plan was closed off by a dividing wall that separated the kitchen from the living area. This was the first thing that needed to be addressed because our clients love to host, and this feature was hindering that. So, we knocked down the wall and created a more open and connected space perfect for gatherings! The addition of recessed lighting in the kitchen and living area also helped bring a brightness that made the interiors feel fresh and inviting.
From Kitchen Remodel to Whole-Home Transformation
Funnily enough, this project started as just a kitchen remodel, but soon it evolved into nearly a full-home renovation. We added new interior doors, updated crown molding throughout, and improved insulation and drywall. The bathroom received updated flooring and a new vanity, while two bedrooms got a fresh coat of paint.
The home’s original red oak floors were full of character, but the yellowing from oil-based polyurethane had aged them prematurely. Rather than replacing them, we refinished the floors with a water-based finish that brought out their natural beauty, giving them a look closer to white oak (very popular), and ensuring they’ll stay brighter for years to come.
Custom Kitchen Features with a Personal Touch
In the kitchen, we installed Schrock semi-custom cabinetry in a timeless two-tone combination: painted uppers and stained lowers. The clients fell in love with these cabinets but something was missing. That something was a specific mesh-door detail that the client came across while researching. The cabinet supplier didn’t have this option available, so our skilled team to on this task and created the mesh doors themselves!
Champagne bronze hardware, faucets, and lighting fixtures added warmth and elegance. Instead of traditional tile, the quartz countertop from Capital Stone was extended up the wall as a full backsplash, giving the homeowners a grout-free solution that they specifically asked for.
A Home Meant to Be Shared
Every detail of this renovation was chosen to reflect the homeowner’s personality, lifestyle, and love for gathering with others. Today, the space feels lighter, brighter, and more functional yet still deeply rooted in its country charm. What began as a simple kitchen remodel became a full transformation, and now this beloved home is the center of countless new memories with family and friends.
