Basement Remodel for a Forever Home
A Growing Family’s Vision for More Space
This was the first project for a new client—a young, growing family with lots of kids. They wanted to increase the living space in their forever home by transforming their unfinished basement into a welcoming and functional area. With a fairly new build, the basement had never been worked on, but its natural light from windows and a large walkout patio door made it the perfect space for a major upgrade.
To enhance the entry into the new basement space, we replaced the original builder-grade pine stairs with a stunning new staircase featuring black matte metal spindles, red oak handrails, and treads. To create an open-concept feel, we removed as much wall space as possible, allowing the new stairs to blend seamlessly into the renovated area.
We also strategically added small closets throughout the basement to enclose mechanicals and utilities, maintaining a clean and organized look. And of course, we made sure to leave a few hundred square feet of space for a typical basement storage area (not pictured). To tie everything together, pet-proof Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring was installed throughout, providing long-lasting durability while complementing the upstairs flooring.
A Comfortable and Functional Living Space
At the heart of the new basement is a custom-built entertainment center that stretches over 10 feet, designed to house an 80” TV. This feature enhances the casual and comfortable ambiance the family envisioned, making it the ideal spot for movie nights and gatherings. Recessed lighting was installed throughout the basement to create a bright and inviting atmosphere, ensuring the space feels open and welcoming at all times of the day.
To complete the transformation, we added a full three-piece bathroom, featuring a low-profile preform shower base for easy access, a toilet, and a beautiful white oak vanity with a quartz countertop. Inside the linen closet, custom-built wood shelves match the TV built-in, adding continuity and thoughtful design elements throughout the space.
A Stylish and Practical Kitchenette
The kitchenette was designed with both functionality and style in mind. A four-person island with deep cabinets provides ample storage while serving as a central gathering space for the family. Calacatta Evelyn quartz countertops add a touch of elegance, while a Serena White Ceramic backsplash contributes a sleek, modern aesthetic.
A Happy Client Ready for More Home Upgrades
The family was thrilled with their basement transformation—so much so that they’re already considering remodeling the rest of their home with us. By blending thoughtful design with functional enhancements, we helped turn their unfinished basement into a beautiful, practical extension of their forever home.
