Edgy Bathroom Remodel Mixed with Farmhouse Charm

When longtime clients come back for a fourth project, it says everything about the trust that’s been built. For this downstairs guest bathroom remodel, we leaned into an edgier look with subtle farmhouse undertones, carefully tying it back to the character of the adjacent kitchen we had remodeled years earlier.

A Curbless Shower with Purposeful Details

The existing tub was removed and replaced with a curbless walk-in shower. It features a sleek linear, full-length drain, a Kohler sliding shower, and a hydrorail shower system. It’s a system where the plumbing emerges directly from the wall, giving a subtle nod to old-school craftsmanship while keeping the look streamlined. Vertical beadboard-inspired tile adds texture and farmhouse character. And the niche and adjacent window share the same floor tile accents, creating intentional repetition and visual cohesion with the rest of the bathroom.

A Bold Black & Crème Palette

Moving away from the current black-and-gold trend you’ll find in recent years, we embraced a striking black and crème color for a refined, high-contrast look. The custom Mouser vanity with routed drawer faces and integrated matte black pulls have a tailored appearance. Especially with the Cambria Montaj countertop that has a bold 3-inch built-up edge. Herringbone slate floors ground the room and subtly reference the dark soapstone counters in the kitchen. Above, alabaster sconces introduce a soft, elevated glow.

The homeowners are thrilled with the finished product. And now with the fourth project finished, we joke with them that it’s only a matter of time before we remodel their entire house!
